Call for papers – Chinese classical thought and contemporary politics

International conference organised by:

  • The Centre of Chinese Studies (CEC-ASIEs, Inalco),
  • The Chinese Confucian Academy (Zhonghua Kongzi xuehui 中華孔子學會)

The organising committee is pleased to invite colleagues and Ph.D students in Chinese studies to submit abstracts for this international conference regarding the relationship between Chinese classical thought and contemporary politics. Its objective is to explore in different ways the po- litical dimension of Chinese Classics. The conference will discuss the following questions: What is the main link between political views in Chinese history and politic life today? How can we take advantage of the Confucian, Taoist and other traditional thoughts in politics for a contemporary use? Is Chinese political tradition able to support a modern democratic system?

It will also be an opportunity for us to review new methodologies dealing with the theme of the conference in both philosophical and historical perspectives.
